I think we can safely say that most dog owners these days are aware of the dangers of your puppy or dog ingesting chocolate, grapes, onions, bulbs etc etc.
But have you ever thought of BONE MEAL AND FERTILISER??
With gardening season upon us and wanting our plants in perfect bloom, we often treat our tubs and shrubs to a generous sprinkling of bone meal or fertiliser. Often forgetting that this product is made from ground up animal bones and can be very attractive to your dog’s nose.
If consumed, it can cause severe health issues, including life threatening stomach blockages and even worse.
So, garden with care, keep your plant tubs up high for a few weeks or create a dog-free zone around the shrub you have just recently fertilised.
And of course if you think your dog might have consumed bone meal or fertiliser of some kind, contact your veterinarian immediately.
